March was the biggest month for new car sales in South Africa since October 2019.
The local market recorded a total of 50,607 sales in the month, a 16.5% increase compared to March 2021.
Toyota benefited immensely from this uptick in sales, breaking its record for the third month in a row by selling 15,008 vehicles.
This is largely thanks to the evergreen Hilux, which accounted for 4,561 units, as well as the Corolla Cross, which moved 2,384 units.
Along with these cars, the VW Polo Vivo also had an excellent month by cracking the 2,000-unit mark, selling a total of 2,117 models.
The VW Polo Sedan achieved 829 sales, making it the only sedan to be featured in this top 20 list – sitting comfortably in 15th place.
