Best-selling crossovers in South Africa

The Toyota Urban Cruiser was South Africa’s best-selling crossover in May, with 1,213 units making their way off the showroom floor.

VW came in second place with the T-Cross – the brand’s most affordable entry in the crossover segment – with 981 sales.

Another consistent top performer is the Haval Jolion, which took third place last month with just six fewer sales than the T-Cross, at 975 units.

The Renault Kiger also proved to be a hit with customers, taking fourth place and outperforming the brand’s other crossover – the Duster – with 962 units sold compared to 169 for the Duster.

Ford’s EcoSport continues to be a popular seller as well with 674 units cleared, as is the Hyundai venue which pushed 627 units out the dealer’s doors.

The Suzuki Jimny and Vitara Brezza continue to see a fair market share, too, though their sales are slightly down from the previous month.

The Toyota Corolla Cross, meanwhile, saw a massive decrease in sales, with only 181 units finding new owners this past month, compared to previous sales of over 1,000 units a month.

However, a portion of these low sales can be attributed to the floods that hit Toyota’s plant last month, leading to a supply shortage.
