Audi South Africa has announced the national availability of the new Connect plug-and-play device which brings support for the “latest connected integrated technology.”
The Audi Connect plug is available for vehicles built from 2008 onwards that do not already have these features pre-installed from the factory.
Owners must download the mobile application on iOS or Android to be able to use Connect services, but the device and installation will be provided free of charge at their preferred Audi dealership after booking an appointment.
“The Audi connect plug-and-play technology is installed on-site at an Audi Dealership, automatically providing digital and connected functionality between the vehicle and smartphone,” said Audi South Africa.
“The Audi connect plug-and-play app (available on iOS/Android) lets your smartphone use Bluetooth and the Audi connect plug and play hardware to connect to your vehicle, turning it into a connected car in no time at all.”
Owners can also visit the Audi Connect webpage to find out whether their vehicles will be supported.
Audi Connect capabilities
The Audi Connect plug-and-play device brings a host of new features to cars that are the better part of 14 years old.
Mainly, owners will have access to the following:
- Parking reminder – Marks where the vehicle is parked
- Service appointments – Request a service appointment at preferred dealer.
- Fuel monitor – Provides overview of refueling processes and monthly fuel expenses.
- Breakdown assistance – Connect owners with 24-hour roadside assistance hotline.
- Driving statistics – Records driver inputs such as acceleration, vehicle speed, engine speed, and braking behaviour.
- Charging monitor (e-tron only) – Provides overview of charging expenses, kilometres driven, and charging status.
- Digital logbook – Documents duration and route information, date and time, and starting point and end destination.
- Challenges – Earn rewards from select Audi Dealers by completing challenges such as adopting a more efficient driving style or taking local discovery tours.
On top of this, you’ll have the most important car data at your fingertips such as the VIN, and dealers will be able to communicate with you about upcoming service reminders and special offers.
