BMW South Africa has announced the return of M Fest – the event showcasing what the brand’s signature high-performance M cars have to offer.
The festival will take place from 15 to 16 October at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng.
What to expect
This year’s M Fest will be the third time that BMW is hosting the event, and it will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the M brand which the automaker is celebrating this year.
Entertainment will include experiences both on and off the track as attendees will be offered the chance to drive the cars themselves during test drives, and other sporting events will include drag races and drifting shows.
A large BMW showroom will also allow enthusiasts to witness a variety of vehicles in the M line-up upclose.
Furthermore, the day will include live entertainment and a large play area has been provided for children making the event family-friendly.
Tickets will go on sale from Monday 11 July on howler.co.za, and further information about the event will be communicated on BMW’s social media pages in the coming days.
M for motorsport
BMW’s M division is focused on creating high-performance models for the German car brand.
It was originally conceived in the 1960s to assist with BMW’s motorsport reputation but later went on to produce road-production cars available to the public, starting with the original M1.
From there, the M badge solidified itself as part of the automaker’s portfolio and today South Africans can purchase M2, M3, M4, M5, and M8 sports cars as well as an equally long list of M-branded SUVs.
South Africa is a significant market for BMW, particularly for its M and M Performance models, with the brand consistently selling over 1,000 new vehicles per month.
This is complemented by the love that local fans have for BMW’s ultra limited-edition models, with five units of the M4 Competition 50 Jahre, 10 units of the R3.8-million M5 CS, and 15 units of the M4 CSL being delivered to South African buyers over the last six months.
