Suzuki Ertiga 7-seater updated – Fewer models and more standard features

The affordable seven-seater MPV from Suzuki, the Ertiga, is receiving an update, adding new features to its models across the existing range.

The changes to the existing Ertiga line-up are the result of a decision to discontinue the top-of-the-range GLX model, in both its manual and automatic specifications, leading to many of the features found on that model to be added to the remaining units fitted with the Ertiga badge.

Discontinuing the GLX means South African customers will be left with a choice of three models – the GA, with its five-speed manual gearbox, and the GL, which is available with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

The drivetrain remains unchanged, as all versions of the Ertiga will be sold with the same 1.5 litre petrol engine producing 77kW and 138Nm.

Fuel consumption for the Suzuki, meanwhile, is listed at 6.2l/100km on a combined cycle.

Features

The main addition to the entry-level GA model is that it will now receive rear parking sensors as standard.

This is on top of existing features found across the range including electric windows, manual air conditioning, ventilated cup holders, central locking, and LED taillamps.

As the new top-end entry in the Ertiga line-up, the GL will now come with styling accents previously found on the GLX, such as 15-inch alloy wheels and chrome accents on the front grille.

Furthermore, the new model will be equipped with a 7-inch infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This new screen also means the Suzuki will now be fitted with a rearview camera not seen on the previous model.

A multifunction steering wheel with cruise control has also been added, and the automatic spec will additionally feature hill assist.

Rounding out the package on the GL is a new centre armrest and storage box between the front seats, with additional vents for rear air conditioning, as well as an extra 12V charging socket.
