The JAC T6 double cab is now available in South Africa with a larger, naturally-aspirated petrol engine at a more affordable starting price than before – R324,900.
Previously, the T6 was only offered in 1.9-litre, turbo-diesel guise which commands a R35,000 premium over the new petrol specification.
“The market feedback is clear. Customers, especially big transport operators, want petrol engine derivatives in their fleets,” said Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa.
“With the limited offer of one-tonne petrol engine workhorses in the local market, we have decided to add a petrol engine derivative to our local T6 range.”
Specifications
The new entry-level JAC T6 is now equipped with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 108kW and 190Nm.
The powerplant pairs with a five-speed manual gearbox sending power to the rear wheels, achieving an average fuel consumption of 10.0l/100km.
“The 76-litre tank will give you a range of approximately 800 kilometres,” said JAC.
Additionally, the petrol T6 offers a top speed of 145km/h, a maximum towing capacity of 2,000kg, and a maximum payload capacity of 900kg – with a load box measuring 1,520mm long by 1,520mm wide by 470mm deep.
Creature comforts inside JAC’s most affordable double cab comprise a leather multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, manual air-conditioning, all-round electric windows, electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, and a Radio/MP3 player with Bluetooth support.
It also comes with ABS with a brake override system, front fog lamps, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera for added safety and convenience.
A rear sports bar in the load bin and 17-inch wheels are fitted to each T6, too.
