Toyota C-HR updated in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

Toyota has updated the C-HR in South Africa, giving the quirky crossover various new features while keeping the price and model line-up the same.

As such, the C-HR is still sold in four trim levels at a starting price of R429,000.

All versions of the updated crossover make use of a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 85kW and 185Nm with fuel consumption ranging between 6.3-6.4l/100km, and it is sold with either a six-speed manual or CVT gearbox, depending on the specification.

Everything new

The most notable change for the updated C-HR is the standard fitment of 18-inch directional alloy wheels on the Plus and Luxury variants.

Also new is a refreshed set of exterior colours, with 10 hues now being available on the entry-level and mid-range models including Midnight Purple, Fierce Red, Eclipse Black, and Celestite Grey.

The top-of-the-line C-HR Luxury, meanwhile, is only sold in a two-tone colour scheme with nine unique combinations each paired with a black roof, with the exception of Eclipse Black, which is combined with a silver roof.

All trim levels of the updated Toyota crossover are equipped with daytime running lights, automatic LED headlamps, a multifunction steering wheel, manual air conditioning, a 4.2-inch multi-information display, six speakers, a reverse camera, and an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functionality.

The mid-range Plus adds on to this with front fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, a leather steering wheel trim, cruise control, two-zone climate control, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

Additionally, the top-of-the-range Luxury comes with park-distance control, an intelligent parking system, keyless entry and start, and a partial leather interior.

As far as safety is concerned, all specifications boast hill assist and front and side airbags, whereas the Luxury further gets a pre-collision system, automatic high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure alert.
