New Renault Kwid Ultra – With a price of R174,900

Renault has lifted the lid off its latest Kwid and detailed how much the entry-level vehicle will sell for in South Africa.

Called the Renault Kwid Ultra, the limited-edition vehicle will provide more value to buyers compared to the standard model – and only 100 units will be available.

The current Kwid range, which was launched in the local market in 2016, has sold just under 30,000 units to date, said Renault.

“The Renault Kwid Ultra presents an even more compelling offer with great visual enhancements and features,” said the company.

This includes:

8-inch touchscreen media centre
Bluetooth, USB, AUX connectivity
Reverse camera
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Air conditioning

Renault has also included several safety features as standard on the Ultra model, such as dual front airbags and ABS.

LED running lights, 180mm of ground clearance, seating for five people, and 279 litres of boot space are added on top of the above.

The Renault Kwid Ultra is then powered by the company’s 1.0-litre 3-cylinder “smart control efficiency” engine, which provides drivers with a fuel consumption rate of 4.7 litres/100km on manual models and 4.4 litres/100km on automatic models – while producing 50kW and 91Nm of torque.

“An innovative and affordable entry-level vehicle, the Renault Kwid overturns established entry segment design cues thanks to its robust, stylish exterior, plus a modern and inviting interior equipped with generous cabin space as well as features and fitments normally unattainable in its class,” said Renault.

The range comes with 1-year comprehensive insurance cover, a 2-year service plan, a 5-year/150,000km mechanical warranty, and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty.

Services take place at 15,000km intervals.
