For the 75th anniversary of the Defender nameplate, Land Rover is introducing a new limited-edition trim for its popular SUV.
The Defender 75th Limited Edition will be available in both 90 and 110 body styles, with only 10 units of the two-door and 30 units of the four-door to make their way to South Africa.
“The Defender 75th Limited Edition is expected to be available in South Africa early in 2023 but is available to configure or order now at your local retailer,” said Land Rover South Africa.
What’s new
For this limited-edition trim, the burly Defender gets an exclusive Grasmere Green exterior hue, the first time a Defender is painted in this colour, with matching 20-inch alloy wheels.
Continuing the exterior revisions are a model-unique 75 Years graphic, Ceres Silver bumpers, and Privacy Glass.
Similarly, the cabin gets a limited-edition treatment in the form of a “cross car beam” finished in brushed Grasmere Green powder coat, laser-etched detailing, “Resist Ebony” seat upholstery, and Robustec material covering the centre console “hockey stick.”
Standard equipment for the collectable Defenders is based on the mid-range HSE specification, with each model receiving a surround-view camera, configurable terrain response programme, the Meridian sound system, Matrix LED front lighting, an 11.4-inch infotainment system, a heads-up display, and a wireless smartphone charger.
All 75th Limited Edition models also come with a folding fabric roof, 14-way driver and passenger heated electric memory seats, a heated steering wheel, three-zone climate control, and an electrically-deployable tow bar.
Each model is then powered by the D300 drivetrain consisting of a 3.0-litre, turbo-diesel motor connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox generating a total of 221kW and 650Nm.
