Mitsubishi launches limited-edition Triton in South Africa – 50 units up for grabs

To celebrate heritage month in South Africa, Mitsubishi has launched a limited-edition Triton double cab of which only 50 units will be made available.

The Triton Heritage Edition is based on the top-of-the-line Triton 4×4 gaining a variety of model-exclusive enhancements both inside and out.

Buyers of the noteworthy bakkie will also be spoiled with an “exclusive VIP customer care experience” at no additional cost, said Jeffrey Allison, general manager of marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa.

Heritage Edition specifications

The new Triton Heritage Edition models are kitted out with more black trim pieces than their standard counterparts, such as on the lower scuff plate, grille, wheel arch cladding, and roof bars.

The cosmetic changes continue with numbered Heritage badges on the front fenders, a black Keko roll bar, a black tonneau cover, as well as a rear tow bar fitted as standard.

For the interior, a numbered plaque reminds passengers of which one of the 50 units they are in.

Standard amenities for the Heritage Editions then comprise a tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column, a multi-function leather steering wheel, cruise control, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, rear passenger air-con vents, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, leather seats, an electric driver seat, and a chromatic rear-view mirror.

Infotainment is additionally taken care of by a central touchscreen with Bluetooth and a “Carplay system.”

For power, the bakkie makes use of a 2.4-litre, turbo-diesel engine generating 133kW and 430Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with “Intelligent Shift Control.”

It also utilises Mitsubishi’s Super Select II four-wheel-drive system and boasts a ground clearance of 220mm, approach angle of 31 degrees, departure angle of 29 degrees, and break over angle of 25 degrees.

Price and perks

The Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 Heritage Edition slots in close to the top of the Triton range at a starting price of R719,990.

The double cab is covered by a 3-year/100,000km warranty, 5-year/90,000km service plan, and 5-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance.

Alongside the purchase of a Heritage Edition, customers will also get a gift box incorporating the limited-edition number of their unit, space for two keys, and a host of experiential benefits.

Included in the box is the opportunity to join a “bespoke 4×4 club”, whose first activity will be a specially curated off-roading experience trip for owners to get familiar with their new Triton.

“Also included in the gift box is a unique Heritage Edition card that will allow for access to a bespoke Heritage Edition portal where owners will be treated to VIP customer support,” said Allison.

“A VIP online portal will give Triton Heritage customers access to a direct communication line with trained Mitsubishi Motors Heritage specialists who will offer not only aftersales support but concierge services such as personalized service bookings, latest upgrade offerings, service plan extensions, and many more personalised experiences.”
