Jaguar Land Rover launches 90-minute driving experience in South Africa – How much it costs

Jaguar Land Rover Experience Centre in Lonehill, Johannesburg is now offering visitors the chance to drive the current range of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles on a variety of on and off-road test tracks.

The new “Taster Drives” take about 90 minutes per session and offer more in-depth test drives than are possible in dealership environments, and they are all done under the expert guidance of internationally accredited instructors, said the company.

The price of a Taster Drive is as follows:

Standard package – R1,520 per person
V8 and electric vehicles – R2,200 per person

All guests are required to present a valid South African driver’s licence and must be a minimum of 23 years old to drive the V8 and electric models.

The new Taster Drives are offered alongside the Experience Centre’s selection of half-day, full-day, or bespoke luxury travel packages.

Taster Drives

Each Taster Drive starts off with an introduction to the Jaguar Land Rover Experience Facility, which is followed by a short safety briefing and then the drive.

The facility itself is situated among 14 hectares of forest and shrublands in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs and is the brand’s largest Experience centre in the world, as well as the first one of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

Included in the estate is the Kingsley Holgate Expedition Trail, a 3km off-road track, as well as a Land Rover Adventure Park that has a series of tailor-made obstacles designed to showcase the off-road capabilities of its vehicles.

The property is also home to a 70-metre diameter skidpan and a 185-metre-long Dynamic Handling Platform to test the vehicles at higher speeds.

Depending on the chosen Taster Drive, individuals will encounter one or more of the above in a range of Land Rover, Range Rover, or Jaguar models.
