The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Service and other government departments will host a traffic find roadshow between Wednesday, 30 November and Friday, 2 December 2022.
The roadshow aims to provide citizens a “one-stop shop” for resolving outstanding fines, summonses, or warrants, said the City.
The roadshow will start daily at 08h30 and go on until 14h00, and it will be located on the 2nd Floor, Podium Block, Civic Centre in the Cape Town CBD.
“This is our first traffic fine roadshow since 2019, and previous events have shown that this is an incredibly popular initiative,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
“It is an opportunity to wipe the slate, and so we encourage members of the public to make use of this opportunity to resolve their fines and ensure happy motoring this festive season.”
Take care of outstanding fines
Traffic-related matters that can be resolved at the roadshow, according to the City, include:
- Paying outstanding fines
- Renewing vehicle licenses
- All fine-related inquiries for vehicles registered in an individual’s name
- Removing administration marks against an individual’s name on the Natis system
- Inquiries about warrants and/or summons issued in an individual’s name and finalising these
- Applying for a reduction in traffic fines issued within the City of Cape Town’s municipal boundaries
Should the individual not be able to attend the roadshow in person, they can send someone on their behalf provided the representative is able to produce their own ID, a copy of the ID of the person who sent them, as well as an affidavit giving them permission to act on behalf of the other party.
Members of the public interested in utilising the services on offer are urged to arrive early, said the City.
This latest initiative aims to rid the system of law-abiding citizens who were caught accidentally crossing the line, allowing law enforcement to better “focus on the scofflaws who refuse to take accountability for their transgressions,” said Smith.
