Western Cape’s biggest car festival of 2022 happening soon – Details

The Cape Motorsport Festival is coming to the Western Cape Province this December, promising two days of trackside fun and music performances.
The festival will be the Killarney Raceway’s “biggest event of the year,” said the show organisers, and it will take place on the weekend of the 9th and 10th of December.
Tickets start at R150 going up to R2,500 and can be purchased online.
What to expect
The festival’s main event will take the form of the South African Endurance Race Series Championship, which will see its drivers competing down to the wire in a nine-hour event out on the track at Killarney.
The leading contenders are separated by just two points and both teams have a “secret weapon” in their driver line-up to bolster their chances of snatching the title, said the event organizers.
However, with a total of 37 teams entered into the race, as of the time of writing, and with double points at stake, the title of the championship is far from a foregone conclusion.
Also up for grabs is the SA Endurance Index of Performance Championship, which as many as 12 teams are currently fighting for.
As for the cars themselves, there will be a wide range of machines on display ranging from FIA-homologated GT3-series models to open-seat sports racers, backdraft roadsters, and saloon cars.
Featured automotive brands that have confirmed attendance consist of Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Mercedes-AMG, all of which will be competing in both an initial qualifying session and a one-hour race event on Friday evening.
Two of South Africa’s top international GT3 racing drivers will also make a guest appearance at the festival and attendees will additionally have the chance to witness the debut of a brand-new GT3 car.
For those looking for a different sort of entertainment, the Cape Motorsport Festival will also play host to a music concert with an assorted line-up.
The confirmed list of musicians includes Zonke, Mdu Masilela, Shekhinah, DrumPope, and Oskido, covering genres ranging from afro-house and pop to jazz, R&B, and Kwaito.
Local bands Watershed and Goodluck will also be there to keep the crowds on their feet, and rounding out the performance is Cape Town DJ Dean Fuel and comedian Jason Goliath.
