Renault has revealed a new Trafic Panel Van for South Africa which will retail from R599,999.
The fourth generation of Renault’s commercial offering features a restyled front fascia, an updated cabin with a “connected mobile office”, a new colour, and a more powerful engine.
Each purchase of a Trafic Panel Van carries a 5-year/150,000km mechanical warranty and a 5-year/90,000km service plan, and local sales will commence “in late November 2022,” said Renault South Africa.
What’s new
The facelifted Renault van sports a more horizontal hood and larger grille than before, LED headlights as standard, and 16-inch steel wheels with “more elegant wheel covers.”
Interior amenities were enhanced, too, the Trafic seeing a new dashboard design integrating an “R&Go” radio with Bluetooth, USB, and Aux connectivity, chrome panel inserts, wider armrests, a multifunction steering wheel, Zoning Mode that allows the driver to lock or unlock only the cabin and/or the cargo hold, and an Easy Life drawer that provides 54 litres of storage under the passenger bench – bringing the total in-cabin storage space up to 88 litres.
Additionally, the central seat backrest can be folded down to create a “mobile office with enough space for a laptop and an A4-size swivel stand to easily hold any working documents,” said Renault.
The 4.15m-long cargo compartment then offers a maximum volume of 8.9m³, and it can be accessed through a standard sliding door on the left of the vehicle or two swivel doors at the rear that has 90 and 180-degree opening angles.
Customers can now also purchase the Renault in two hues, the existing Ice Cool White and the newly-added Cumulus Blue.
Finally, the fourth-generation Trafic adopts a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that pairs with a six-speed manual transmission.
According to the manufacturer, this unit offers more power and torque over the outgoing motor, as well as improved fuel efficiency thanks to a new ECO drive mode.
