Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa has launched a no-deposit, fixed-rate finance plan aimed at “entrepreneurs in the SA Taxi industry.”
The tailor-made agreement will allow taxi drivers and fleet operators to purchase the Sprinter Inkanyezi without having to put down a deposit, with an R80,000 discount on the R913,874 retail price further bringing down the monthly instalments.
Over and above this, the deal is subject to a fixed interest rate of 13.25% over a total term of 60 months (5 years).
As a result, applicable individuals will be able to purchase the Sprinter Inkanyezi for a static payment of R20,999 per month.
The total deal value at the end of the agreement then amounts to R1,259,940.
“Access to start-up capital, such as a deposit for a vehicle, is often one of the greatest hindrances to starting a business,” said Marinus Venter, head of product and marketing for Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa.
“With this zero-deposit initiative, we hope to encourage new entrepreneurs to hit the road whilst helping those already in the industry to expand and improve their operations and customer experience.”
Sprinter Inkanyezi specifications
The Inkanyezi conversion for Mercedes’ popular minivan is exclusive to the South African market and was launched around one year ago in November of 2021.
The base vehicle is the Sprinter 516 CDI which is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that develops 120kW and 330Nm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Standard equipment on the van further includes a radio with Bluetooth support, crosswind assist, and 23 vinyl-clad seats along with “hard-wearing” Marley floor mats for extra durability.
A wide variety of optional extras can also be fitted to the Inkanyezi during the conversion process.
These include an automatic transmission, multifunction steering wheel, 10.25-inch MBUX infotainment system, parcel shelves, USB ports for each row, a tow bar, a 360-degree camera system, active brake assist, front distance assist with a speed limiter, parking assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot assist with rear cross-traffic alert.
The vehicle, as well as the conversion parts, are covered by a 2-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
