Lamborghini reveals Huracan Sterrato – A raging bull for any terrain

The new Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato has finally been revealed to the world, and only 1,499 customers will have the pleasure of owning one.

The Sterrato builds on the Evo’s foundation with a wider footprint, higher ground clearance, and exclusive styling elements that both protect the body while also lending it a distinctive design.

The limited-run model will go into production in February 2023, with global pre-orders to commence before the end of 2022.

Sterrato specifications

The Huracan Sterrato, which translates to dirt road, sees a 30mm-wider front track and 34mm-wider rear track, while its ground clearance has been increased by 44mm in comparison to the Huracan Evo.

As part of its wilderness-taming personality, the new Lamborghini features aluminum underbody protection at the front and rear, reinforced side sills, and clad wheel arches giving it more muscular proportions than its siblings, while an air intake is located on the roof to assist in supplying the engine with clean air when tackling dusty tracks.

Complementing the bulkier body are 19-inch alloys shod with custom-engineered Bridgestone Dueler AT002 tyres with run-flat technologies which, should the wheels pick up any punctures, guarantees the driver safe travels for another 80 kilometres at a maximum of 80km/h.

These bespoke tyres incorporate a distinct pattern and “cutting-edge” compound for maintaining excellent grip on gravel and tarmac at both low and high speeds, said Lamborghini.

Behind the seats sits the familiar 5.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, V10 powerplant which combines with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission.

This setup spits out a hefty 449kW and 560Nm which is fed to an all-wheel-drive system with a self-locking mechanical differential on the rear axle.

The configuration enables the Sterrato to finish the 100km/h dash in 3.4 seconds and the 200km/h run in 9.8 seconds, whereas the top speed of 260km/h makes it the only Huracan that cannot conquer the fabled 300km/h.

Thanks to sizeable cross-drilled carbon-ceramic brakes, the Lamborghini decelerates from 100-0km/h in a short 39 metres.

The Sterrato’s passenger compartment also saw its fair share of upgrades.

The Human Machine Interface (HMI), Lamborghini’s name for the digital instrument cluster, features new graphics and special driving features which not even the Urus SUV can boast.

For the first time in a raging bull, the Sterrato comes with a digital inclinometer with a pitch and roll indicator, a compass, a geographic coordinate indicator, and a steering angle indicator.

Lamborghini Connect further brings the integration of Amazon Alexa voice assistance, which can be used to control climate functions, lighting, navigation, media, and phone calls.

Buyers then have a raft of customisation options on offer, including but not limited to 350 exterior hues and 60 colours for the leather and Alcantara interiors.
