Most affordable Maserati yet launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Maserati’s Grecale has gone on sale in South Africa in three trim levels – GT, Modena, and Trofeo – with prices starting at R1,650,000 for the entry-level variant.
Each derivative is driven by a model-exclusive powertrain and boasts a unique design, with a host of high-end features equipped across the range directly from the factory.
Domestic deliveries for Maserati’s second SUV are scheduled to kick off in January 2023, and initial demand has been strong, said the automaker.
Premium equipment
The Grecale spoils its owners with premium equipment, bringing a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display with an infotainment screen of the same size sitting proudly on the dash, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A secondary 8.8-inch touchscreen adjusts the dual-zone climate control, and each version comes with leather upholstery, electric front seats, and hill descent assist.
Stepping up to the Modena, owners can expect heated front seats, and on the Trofeo, also ambient lighting on the dashboard and door panels.
If this isn’t enough, the options list allows buyers to fit adaptive cruise control, a sunroof, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive LED Matrix headlamps, active lane management, traffic-sign recognition, a heads-up display, a wireless charger, ventilated seats, a steering wheel heater, and more.
The unique personalities of the models are further established through a palette of exclusive launch colours and wheels.
For the GT, this is in the form of silky-matte Bronzo Opace and 19-inch “Thetis” wheels, whereas the Modena sees three-layer Grigio Cangiante (iridescent grey) and 20-inch “Etere” wheels.
The top-of-the-line Trofeo gets Giallo Corse paint, 21-inch “Crio” wheels, and red brake callipers which help it stand out of the crowd.
Flagship V6
The GT and Modena models of the new Grecale are both driven by the same 2.0-litre, turbocharged, mild-hybrid powertrain, developing 224kW in the base model and a higher 246kW in the mid-range version, while in both applications it generates 450Nm of torque.
The range-topper, on the other hand, equips a 3.0-litre, V6 unit with no electrification, putting out a substantial 395kW and 650Nm.
Each Grecale then drives all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox feeding power to the axles.

Price
While the Grecale will start at R1.65 million, the first units that are arriving in South Africa have been specced up by the local subsidiary and these will be priced as follows:

- Maserati Grecale Trofeo – R2,950,000
Each purchase includes 3-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and a 5-year/100,000km maintenance plan.
