Lamborghini has created two one-off supercars – the Autentica roadster and Invencible coupe – to celebrate the end of the brand’s naturally-aspirated V12 era.
With the inevitable turning of the tides, the legendary manufacturer will now pivot toward hybrid propulsion with the first semi-electrified raging bull, the Aventador’s replacement, expected to be unleashed before the end of 2023.
Beating heart of Lamborghini
The Autentica and Invencible are the very last cars by Lamborghini to be equipped with a naturally-aspirated, 12-cylinder, 6.5-litre engine mounted longitudinally behind the seats.
The final and ultimate instalment of this V12 foundation delivers a mountain-shifting 574kW and 720Nm, and is mated to a seven-speed ISR transmission and four-wheel-drive system with four-wheel steering.
While the new coupe and roadster’s capabilities have not been revealed, their powertrain is identical to the one found in the Aventador Ultimae and they are therefore expected to have a sub-3-second 0-100km/h sprint time and a top speed of over 350km/h.
Quintessence of maximum creativity
The ultra-rare Lamborghinis were designed by the manufacturer’s Centro Stile department “as the quintessence of maximum creativity using the V12 platform.” The owners were involved from the very start, thus ensuring truly bespoke creations that are personalized down to the last stitch.
The outer shells pay tribute to the most outlandish supercars to come from the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based automaker by taking design cues from models including the race-track-focused Sesto Elemento, the fighter-jet-inspired Reventon, and the aerodynamically-refined Veneno.
Additionally, the Invencible and Autentica feature the same carbon fibre monocoque as the Aventador, along with full-carbon bodywork that incorporates design and technologies successfully tested by Lamborghini in motorsport, such as the aggressive front splitter with vertical struts and bonnet mimicking that of the Essenza SCV12.
The designers have also taken to integrating the brand’s signature hexagon motif into several visual elements, starting with the front and rear daytime running lights which take on the familiar shape, as well as the triple exhaust tips which are built from Inconel – a high-performance steel alloy derived from the aerospace industry.
Individualism was the next factor to consider and the result is distinctive characters in both the coupe and roadster.
For the Autentica, hallmarks comprise Rosso Mars brake calipers, carbon fibre wheel fairings, and scissor doors with hexagonal tricolours as a tribute to the Italian flag, as well as Rosso Efesto paint that complements the carbon fibre side sills and doorframes.
The Autentica then gets a front splitter and motorsport-derived rear wing that optimises the aerodynamic load, side fins, integrated roll bars in the domes above the seats, and Grigio Titans paint with Matte Black details and a Giallo Auge livery.
The interior of the new Lamborghinis takes on a minimalist approach featuring six-sided 3D-printed aircon vents and no instrumentation on the dash “to underline the lightness of the cabin and focus attention on pure driving enjoyment,” said the company.
The cockpit itself is further framed in carbon fibre, with a digital readout featuring dedicated graphics for each car.
As with the body, the cabins of the supercars are bespoke with the coupe being characterised by a dominant red hue with carbon-look panels featuring “red flakes”, Rosso Alala leather upholstery, Nero Cosmus Alcantara, personalised embroidery in Rosso Alala and Nero Ade, and a Lamborghini logo in Rosso Efesto on the dash.
Meanwhile, the roadster boasts Nero Ade leather finishes and two-tone Nero Cosmus/Grigio Octans Alcantara, along with contrasting stitchwork in Giallo Taurus.
