Mercedes-Benz South Africa has listed the official pricing of the new GLC on its vehicle configurator, the popular mid-size SUV coming in at R1,124,312.
The revised GLC is in line to go on sale within the first half of 2023, with at least three engine options and two trim lines to choose from.
Engine line-up
The GLC family is now offered with three hybridised, 2.0-litre powertrains – one petrol and two diesels – each unit connected to a nine-speed automatic gearbox that turns all four wheels.
The entry-level 220d produces 145kW and 440Nm, allowing it to claim 100km/h in 8 seconds and return a combined fuel economy of 4.9-5.1l/100km. Next in line, the 300 model makes do with 190kW and 400Nm, providing a quicker acceleration time of 6.2 seconds and a higher consumption at 7.2-8.2/100km.
Slotting in at the top, the 300d then generates 198kW and 550Nm. The flagship is slightly slower than the mid-range petrol model reaching 100km/h in 6.3 seconds, though the benefits of diesel are clear in its average fuel usage of 5.6-6.2l/100km.
Thanks to the addition of a 48V mild-hybrid system to each engine, the entire range now also boasts 17kW of overboost to achieve quicker launches.
Feature finder
The updated GLC brings a host of features as standard, most notably offering man-made Artico leather upholstery, heated and electric front seats, dual-zone climate control, shifter paddles, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, ambient lighting, wireless charging, LED lights with adaptive high-beam assist, cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and active lane-keeping assist.
This is in addition to a fully-digital driver’s display measuring 12.3 inches diagonally, as well as an 11.9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that juts out of the centre console.
A host of optional extras can also be installed by the buyer, such as climatised seats, “digital” LED lights, a range of leather upholsteries, a heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and the AMG Line exterior styling kit.
