New BMW Z4 – South African pricing announced

BMW has listed the South African pricing of the updated Z4, which is expected to go on sale in the country within the next few months.

The two-seater cab be had in two specifications at different price points, comprising:

Each purchase includes a 2-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and a 5-year/100,000km maintenance plan.

Engines

The new Z4 will offer a choice of either a four or six-cylinder petrol motor, both of which are fitted with the brand’s TwinPower turbo technology.

The 2.0-litre powertrain found on the M Sport generates 145kW and 320Nm, resulting in a top speed of 240km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.6 seconds.

The M40i’s 3.0-litre drivetrain, on the other hand, produces 285kW and 500Nm, which cuts down the acceleration time to 4.1 seconds while increasing the top speed to 250km/h.

Both cars are equipped with an eight-speed Sport Steptronic transmission, are rear-wheel-drive, and boast a near 50:50 weight distribution for better handling.

The M Sport package has been made standard on the sDrive, too, giving it M Sport suspension for better ride comfort, and the M40i features an M Sport differential, Adaptive M Sport suspension, and M Sport brakes with either red or blue brake calipers.

Features

The front of the roadster has seen a facelift with a revised kidney grille, redesigned LED headlights and daytime running lights, larger front air intakes, and a longer bonnet, and all variations now come with 18-inch bi-colour alloys in a black-and-diamond colour palette.

The convertible has also retained its iconic soft-top roof, which is able to open and close in the span of 10 seconds while the car is traveling at speeds of 50km/h or less.

Now that the M Sport package has been made standard, the Z4 comes with an M leather steering wheel and a Vernasca leather upholstery in the buyer’s choice of black, ivory, white, cognac, or magma red.

Both cars also come with front and rear park distance control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, two-zone automatic climate control, front collision warning, lane-departure warning, a speed limiter, a digital driver display, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen.

The M40i features ambient lighting, blue contrast stitching, and a more liberal application of M badges, too.

The list of extras for the Z4 then brings options such as a heads-up display, heated seats, reverse camera, adaptive LED headlamps, active cruise control, lane change warning, cross traffic warning, rear collision warning, a parking assistant, 19-inch alloys, a Frozen Grey metallic paint scheme, and an Anthracite Silver fabric roof.
