Mahindra and SsangYong distribution agreement ends in South Africa

Mahindra South Africa has announced that its multi-year distribution agreement between itself and the SsangYong Motor Company has ended.

This means that Mahindra South Africa will no longer act as the distributor for SsangYong from 28 February 2021.

“This marks the end of a multi-year agreement, during which Mahindra South Africa took over full responsibility for the SsangYong brand and its vehicles in South Africa,” said the company.

“For the last four years, since the SsangYong brand’s withdrawal from South Africa, Mahindra South Africa has maintained a comprehensive parts catalogue in South Africa and honoured all customer obligations.”

Mahindra South Africa said it will continue to honour remaining SsangYong vehicle warranties and service plans, provided they fall within the contractual parameters.

It will also make any remaining parts and components available to servicing dealers, without carrying any legal responsibility on behalf of SsangYong.

Questions about the deal ending, which reach beyond the capabilities of Mahindra South Africa, can be directed to M. S. Koh on: [email protected].
