Hyundai South Africa has launched the new Venue Cargo – offering individuals and businesses a compact commercial vehicle to suit their needs.
Pricing for the Cargo starts at R329,900, and each purchase includes a 7-year/200,000km warranty.
VAT-registered businesses will also be able to claim back the value-added-tax on their purchase, said the automaker.
Specifications
The new Venue follows a similar design approach to the other Cargo models in Hyundai’s local catalogue, such as the Grand i10 Cargo.
“We have had considerable success with the Grand i10 Cargo, which was the first car in Hyundai’s local range to be converted into a two-seater with a secure load area for commercial use,” said the company.
Like the hatch, the crossover’s rear bench has been removed entirely to allow for expanded storage space, and this area has been fitted with a steel mesh grid for added security.
The steel mesh includes one large frame that separates the driver and front passenger from the boot, as well as separate frames for the rear window and two side doors.
The load area’s dimensions work out to a length of 1,200mm, a width of 1,200mm, and a height of 900mm, which gives it a storage capacity of 1,296 litres and a maximum payload of 500kg.
The Venue crossover itself was recently updated in 2022, and the Cargo variant is based on the entry-level Motion with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and five-speed manual transmission.
This gives the workhorse an output of 61kW and 115Nm while averaging a conservative 6.5l/100km on a typical fuel cycle involving highway and city driving.
In terms of equipment, the Cargo variant comes with 15-inch steel rims with styled plastic covers, an 8-inch infotainment unit Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear camera, USB ports, a 4.2-inch LCD driver display, manual air conditioning, two front airbags, and ABS.
