Top 10 brands
On the brand front, BMW took top spot as the most searched-for brand, narrowly beating Mercedes-Benz.
“Interesting insight into the data shows that the lead in searches that BMW has traditionally enjoyed is getting narrower as consumers search and compare more brands in their consideration set,” stated the report.
“The top three most searched-for car brands in South Africa took 45% of all car searches, an increase of 11% year-on-year.”
The report stated that 15.4% of all car brand searches went to BMW, up from 12% previously.
Mercedes-Benz was in second place with 14.8% of all car searches, while VW took third spot with 14.3% of all car searches.
