Flagship Audi Q7 S Line Competition now in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

Audi’s Q7 line-up has been expanded in South Africa with a new flagship S Line Competition specification which retails from a starting price of R1,663,100, according to vehicle information specialists Duoporta.

The special-edition model boasts unique exterior fittings and enhanced equipment compared to the standard S Line trims, and like its siblings, it’s driven by a torquey V6 turbo-diesel powerplant.

Under the radar

The Competition treatment for the sizeable Q7 is mostly cosmetic, encompassing the Black Styling Plus package that sees a dark grille and side gills, black Audi badging, black roof rails, and carbon fibre mirror caps.

The South African models also feature 22-inch Audi Sport trapezoid-style wheels in addition to stylish Matrix LED headlights.

On top of the equipment of the standard S Line, the Competition variant further brings a panoramic sunroof, extended ambient lighting, tinted windows, a sliding rear bench, and the S Line interior package in black Valcona leather with an embossed “S” on the seats.

Buyers can also expect niceties such as four-zone climate control, electric seats, keyless entry and start, cruise control, a multifunction camera programme, a digital driver’s display, and a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone mirroring.

Propelling the Q7 forward is a 3.0-litre, V6, turbocharged diesel engine in combination with an eight-speed automatic gear changer and quattro all-wheel drive.

The foundation is good for 183kW and 600Nm which sends the 2.1-tonne Audi from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 225km/h, while combined fuel consumption under the right conditions is pegged at 8.0l/100km.

The SUV boasts adaptive air suspension, too, which can be varied between four modes with the Audi Drive Select system.

On highways, the ride height is lowered automatically by up to 30mm depending on the speed, thereby improving aerodynamic drag and efficiency. Conversely, when driving off-road at low speeds it can supply up to 60mm of additional ground clearance.

It also offers a Level Control feature that keeps the body flat around bends and over obstacles.
