The pricing of the new Hyundai Grand i10 – the brand’s entry-level vehicle – has been revealed.
According to vehicle-information specialists Duoporta, the Grand i10 will be available in both hatchback and sedan form with a total of eight models on offer, and prices will start from R229,900.
Engines
The front-wheel-drive Hyundai can be had with either a 1.0-litre or 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine.
The 1.0-litre block is limited to the lower models and is exclusively available with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the larger 1.2-litre drivetrain can be paired with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
In terms of performance, the 1.0-litre generates 49kW and 94Nm, while the 1.2-litre produces 61kW and 114Nm.
The smaller powertrain then consumes an average of 5.4l/100km, while the larger one uses anywhere from 5.9l/100km to 6.9l/100km, depending on whether the manual or automatic is chosen.
Features
So far, it has been confirmed that the base Motion trim level will come standard with 14-inch steel wheels, two front airbags, manual air conditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front and rear USB ports, central locking, front and rear electric windows, vinyl/cloth upholstery, rear park-distance control sensors, and a rear-view camera.
The higher-spec Fluid units further get 15-inch alloy rims, an artificial leather steering wheel, cruise control, electronically-adjustable and heated side mirrors, LED daytime running lights, and automatic headlights.
Furthermore, the sedan models will have a larger boot of 402 litres, compared to the hatch’s 360 litres.
The full specification list will be revealed closer to the vehicle’s launch, which is expected in August.
