More affordable Isuzu Mu-X launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Isuzu has introduced a new 1.9-litre Mu-X to the South African market for a starting price of R708,000.

Before, the SUV was only available as a 3.0-litre model from R800,000 upwards, with the 1.9-litre mill reserved for the D-Max bakkies only.

What you get

The new entry-level Mu-X boasts a power cap of 110kW and 350Nm from its smaller motor, and it’s only available in 4×2 and with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The foundation earns the SUV a combined fuel consumption of 7.0l/100km, as well as a maximum towing capacity of 2,100kg.

Compared to its siblings, the 1.9-litre variant generates 30kW and 100Nm less, thus improving fuel consumption by 0.6l/100km but bringing down its towing potential by 1,400kg.

Exclusively sold in LS spec, the new Isuzu additionally offers a wide variety of equipment and features.

As standard, the seven-seater brings automatic bi-LED lights, rain-sensing wipers, a multifunction steering wheel, partial leather upholstery, cruise control, manual airconditioning with rear-cabin vents, electric front seats with four-way adjustment for the passenger and eight-way for the driver, and a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connected to a six-speaker setup.

Front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, hill-start and descent assist, trailer sway control, ABS with brake assist, and seven airbags are fitted, too.

This particular Mu-X also sits on 18-inch alloy wheels, with a matching full-size spare wheel included, giving it a ground clearance of 235mm.

Price

The South African pricing and revised model line-up for the Isuzu Mu-X are as follows:

Each purchase carries a 5-year/120,000km warranty, a 5-year/90,000km service plan, and 5-year/120,000km roadside assistance.
