New Mahindra Pik Up Karoo Single Cab for South Africa – Pricing and specifications

Mahindra is expanding its single-cab Pik Up portfolio with two new Karoo-badged models, one rear-wheel drive (RWD) and one 4×4 option.

This marks the first time the South African-exclusive cosmetic treatment has been afforded to the two-seater Pik Up, as it was previously only reserved for the higher-end double cabs.

Upon launch, the new Pik Up single cabs will be available in the S6 specification level only, priced at R402,999 and R440,499, respectively, which will include a 4-year/120,000km warranty and 5-year/90,000km service plan, according to Duoporta vehicle information specialists.

The Karoo upgrade pack lends the Pik Up single cabs more visual flair in comparison to their standard counterparts.

These models were treated to Karoo decals on the doors, a black nudge bar and roll bar, 16-inch alloy wheels in an exclusive design, a rubberised load bin, and a unique Sand Dune paint scheme.

Apart from these surface-level improvements, however, the special-edition bakkies are virtually identical to their siblings.

As such, buyers can expect the Karoo single cabs to at the very least bring functions such as keyless entry, central locking, a touchscreen audio system, cruise control, follow-me-home headlamps, ABS, and two airbags.

Like the rest of the Pik Up family, the newcomers are also driven by a 2.2-litre, turbocharged diesel block mated exclusively to a six-gear manual transmission.

This configuration churns out 103kW and 320Nm, and it returns a combined fuel usage of 7.7l/100km for the RWD variant and 7.9l/100km for the 4×4.

Both bakkies are further capable of carrying up to 1,095kg in the load box and towing a maximum of 2,500kg, and both are fitted with a rear diff-lock and a fuel-saving Start/Stop system as standard. The 4×4 additionally offers low-range gear ratios.

Ground clearance for the Pik Ups comes in at 210mm, and they measure 5,175mm in length, 1,820mm in width, and 1,860mm in height.
