New Audi S7 Sportback – A R1.5-million luxury sedan

The new Audi S7 TFSI Sportback Quattro Tiptronic is now available in South Africa.

The luxury sedan is priced at R1,500,500 and comes standard with a 5-year/100,000km Audi Freeway Plan.

“Performance, presence, and comfort” make up the tag line for the vehicle – and it aims to deliver on all fronts.

In the power department, the new S7 packs a 3.0TFSI engine which produces 331kW and 600Nm of torque.

“Transmission is controlled via a tiptronic gearbox. Top speed is governed at 250km/h and acceleration [to 100km/h] is stated at 4.6 seconds,” said Audi.

Additionally, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with battery has been incorporated into the car, which improves fuel efficiency and allows for start/stop operation from 22km/h.

This power is paired with permanent all-wheel drive – which distributes torque between the front and rear axle in a 40:60 ratio during standard driving conditions.

“If one wheel encounters slip, most of the drive torque goes to the axle with the better traction. In the extreme, 70% can flow to the front wheels and 85% to the rear wheels,” said Audi.

Optional all-wheel steering is also available to customers, which at speeds below 60km/h sees the rear wheels turning by up 5 degrees – reducing the turning circle of the S7 by 1.1 metres.

Finally, S Sport suspension comes as standard along with adaptive air suspension.

“It can be set to three modes and includes a lift position for poor roads and automatic levelling,” said Audi.

“In the auto mode the body is lowered by a further 10 millimetres – at speeds of 120km/h upwards – and in the dynamic mode the vehicle remains always at this low ride height.

Updated features

Audi has included an expanded range of equipment which comes as standard in the S7, including the Audi virtual cockpit with a 12.3-inch display and MMI navigation system.

Four-zone automatic air conditioning, additional touch displays with haptic feedback, ambient lighting with up to 30 colours, an Audi phone box and smartphone interface, Bang and Olufsen premium sound system, and a panoramic glass sunroof are also fitted.

S Sport seats with embossed logos and a leather finish come standard, and are available in black, rotor grey, and arras red.

“A variety of leather packages are available for customizing the interior further. Instead of the standard inlays in brushed aluminium, fine grain ash or carbon twill is available as an option,” said Audi.

Additional options include a 360 degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a night vision assistant, lane change warnings, and a sports differential.
