Alfa Romeo has just unveiled a limited-edition series of vehicles known as the Tributo Italiano, which are intended to pay homage to the brand’s origins and sporty history.
The special-edition units are now available for pre-order and will be introduced in markets around the world, however, South Africa is not yet confirmed to be one of the recipients.
“In regard to the local market (South Africa) introduction – this is currently under evaluation as it potentially would be part of an Alfa Romeo MY24 (Model year 2024) range,” the company’s local division told TopAuto, putting the cars’ potential launch date sometime in next year if they are indeed approved for domestic showrooms.
Paying tribute
The Tributo Italiano will be applied to the Giulia sedan, Stelvio SUV, and Tonale crossover, all of which will be exclusively available in Verde Montreal (green), Rosso Alfa (red), or Bianco Alfa (white) paint schemes – the colours of the Italian flag.
Complementing the special units is a two-tone exterior with a black roof, exclusive body kit, red Brembo brake calipers, and new alloy wheels that measure 21 inches on the Stelvio, 20 inches on the Tonale, and 19 inches on the Giulia.
All the Tributo Italiano variants’ door mirrors feature the Italian flag, and the Tonale has received new skid plates, front and side Dark Miron matte accents, a chrome-plated twin exhaust, and adaptive Matrix LED headlights.
The Tributo Italiano units are positioned as the flagships of their respective line-ups, which entails an upgrade to their interiors as well.
Their new black leather seats feature perforations with hints of red, while the headrests are embroidered with the distinctive logo of the limited series. Red needlework can be found on the seats and door panels, and the dashboard comes in a new “carbon design” with red ambient lighting.
Other additions include aluminium scuff plates, dual-zone climate control, a heated leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, heated front seats, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo with subwoofers, and, on the SUVs, a hands-free electric tailgate.
They also come with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) level 2 for partially autonomous driving, which includes things like a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
Depending on the market, the all-wheel-drive Giulia and Stelvio can be had with either a 2.0-litre ,turbo-petrol plant with 208kW, or a 2.2-litre, turbo-diesel with 156kW, both of which are paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
A 119kW rear-wheel-drive, turbo-diesel setup is also an option for these two vehicles, said the Mediterranean manufacturer.
For the Tonale, buyers can choose between a 1.5-litre, turbocharged hybrid, which uses a front-wheel-drive configuration and produces 118kW, or a 4WD 1.3-litre, plug-in hybrid with 208kW that can provide 80km of electric driving on a single charge.
All of the vehicles are equipped with “dual-stage valve” active suspension with electronically-controlled damping that can adapt to driving conditions to optimize sportiness or comfort.
