New Citroen C3 Max launched in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

Citroen has added a new range-topping model to the C3 range in South Africa called the Max.

The C3, which is one of the country’s most affordable crossovers, went on sale in May last year, but up till now, it has only been sold in a single entry-level “Feel” specification.

The company announced at its launch that the C3 roster would be expanded with a new high-grade model, which has finally come to pass with the addition of the C3 Max which starts at R249,900.

Later this year, the Citroen will also receive an automatic gearbox, though the release date for this has yet to be declared.

Specifications

The Max shares the same powertrain as the base C3, taking the form of a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol motor with 61kW and 115Nm.

This connects to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearshift, which results in an average fuel consumption of 5.6l/100km.

It’s in its equipment sheet that the upper-tier model distinguishes itself, as it features new front fog lights, a rear skid plate, a reversing camera, and 15-inch alloy wheels instead of the 14-inch steel rims with plastic covers used by the Feel.

This is in addition to the items found on the base C3, which includes LED daytime running lights, a front skid plate, roof rails, a two-tone exterior, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, manual air conditioning, electric windows, a multifunction steering wheel, a dual-tone textured dashboard, one front and two rear USB ports, a 12V socket, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster with six display modes, and a 10-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It also comes with safety and assistance items comprising rear park-distance control, automatic central locking when driving away, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, and two front airbags.

The Citroen stands 3,981mm long, 1,604mm tall, and 1,733mm wide with a ground clearance of 180mm, and its boot can accommodate 315 litres of luggage.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the Citroen C3 range is as follows:

This includes a 5-year/200,000km warranty and a 2-year/30,000km service plan.
