New Mitsubishi Xpander Cross launched in South Africa – Pricing and specifications
Mitsubishi has officially launched the new Xpander Cross in South Africa.
The Cross is positioned as the flagship of the Xpander MPV series, offering unique visuals and an fleshed-out equipment sheet.
The new model has a starting price of R419,995, making it R34,000 more expensive than the standard units.
Features
The most obvious distinction between the Cross and its siblings is the former’s unique look.
The styling is vaguely reminiscent of what we’ve seen on the brand’s other recent entries such as the Outlander Sport or next-gen Triton, with SUV-inspired additions like a more prominent silver front and rear bumper with three segments.
It also has silver side skirts, black wheel arch mouldings, chrome door handles, a new set of silver square-shaped lower fog lamp surrounds, and a metallic black finish for the grille.
Black roof rails are included as standard, and the chrome side mirror caps are electronically adjustable with integrated indicators.
Its ground clearance has been raised 5mm to 225mm, too.

In terms of exclusive features, the Cross is sold with LED headlights, four-spoke leather multifunction steering wheel, keyless entry and start, an electronic hand brake, soft-touch materials for the cabin surfaces with a cross-stitch pattern, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a storage box with an armrest, second-row USB ports, active stability control, active yaw control, hill assist, and cruise control.
This is on top of the equipment already found on the base seven-seater, which includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a full-size spare wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, scuff plates, a 12V socket, six speakers, automatic air conditioning, a rearview camera, ABS, two airbags, and an infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and voice commands.

Engine
The Cross employs the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine as the rest of the Xpander range.
This powerplant generates a total of 77kW and 141Nm, which is sent down to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox.
As a result, the MPV achieves an average fuel consumption of 7.0l/100km.

The South African pricing for the updated Mitsubishi Xpander lineup is as follows:
