The most expensive Suzuki you can buy in South Africa is the Grand Vitara Hybrid, which clocks in at R542,900.
This is the only Suzuki in the country that costs more than half a million rand, highlighting the brand’s long-standing reputation for affordable cars.
While other automakers have gradually shifted upmarket with several models that now go for well over R500,000, Suzuki is the only manufacturer in South Africa to offer 11 different vehicles for less than R300,000.
This has undoubtedly been a significant driver behind Suzuki’s recent success in our market, as it is now the second best-selling brand behind Toyota.
This title used to be held by VW, but the German carmaker’s prices have increased to the point where even the base Polo Vivo now asks for R271,900.
In comparison, Suzuki’s most expensive SUV is only R12,000 more than the cheapest Audi on sale in South Africa.
What’s included

The Grand Vitara is the only Suzuki in the country to feature a mild hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an integrated starter motor and a 12V lithium-ion battery.
The electrical components improve the engine’s efficiency at low speeds, leading to a lower average fuel consumption.
It also comes with a stop-start function to reduce idle fuel spend and regenerative brakes that provide smoother deceleration while topping up the battery pack.
As a result, the SUV achieves a relatively frugal fuel consumption of 6.0l/100km.
The engine produces a total of 76kW and 137Nm and links to an all-wheel-drive system via a six-speed automatic gearbox.
As for its equipment sheet, the Grand Vitara comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and daytime running lights, keyless entry and start, a leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, ambient cabin lighting, and a wireless phone charger.
It also has a 9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a small heads-up display that can show driving information without the need to take your eyes off the road.
Driving aids then take the form of cruise control, hill assist, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Each purchase includes a 5-year/200,000km warranty and a 4-year/60,000km service plan.
