Best-selling bakkies in South Africa

The Toyota Hilux had a record-breaking month this July, selling an incredible 3,120 units.

Unsurprisingly, this means it is by far and away the most popular bakkie in South Africa with a substantial lead over the runner-up, the Ford Ranger.

Of course, the Ranger still had a very good turnout with 2,168 people picking one up last month,

Third place, meanwhile, went to the Isuzu D-Max, which sold 2,002 units.

The top three models were the only ones to reach four digits with their sales, as the next entry in the top 10 is the Mahindra Pik Up.

The Pik up sold 783 units, putting it ahead of the Toyota Land Cruiser in fifth place with its 534 purchases.

Next up is the GWM P-Series, which barely managed to stay ahead of the Nissan Navara.

The P-Series sold 395 units, while the Navara sold 393 units, making for a very close match for sixth and seventh place.

Not too far behind is the VW Amarok in eighth, which sold 381 examples.

The last two entries in the top 10 are both Chinese, namely the Foton Tunland G7 and the JAC T-Series, which sold 214 and 174 units, respectively.

In total, the top 10 bakkies sold a combined 10,164 models in July, representing 19.7% of the 51,383 vehicles purchased in South Africa in the past 31 days.
