Motorists just can’t seem to get enough of bakkies in South Africa.
The pickup market did particularly well in June 2025, selling thousands of units across a variety of models and different brands.
To the surprise of no one, the Toyota Hilux is still on top with a staggering 3,035 sales.
This puts it well-ahead of its main rival – the Ford Ranger – which sold a still-impressive 2,318 units.
The last member of the big three – the Isuzu D-Max – then took its usual spot thanks to 1,678 purchases.
The top three were the only ones to break past the 1k mark, as fourth place went to the Mahindra Pik Up with 860 units.
The next two spots saw a reversal with the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 moving up to fifth while the Nissan Navara dropped to sixth.
The Land Cruiser sold 615 examples, while the Navara sold 403.
Next up is a Chinese entry in the form of the GWM P-Series, which came seventh overall with 367 sales.
Not far behind is the VW Amarok, which ended with 354 units.
The last two entries in the top 10 are from two other Chinese brands – Foton and JAC.
Foton’s Tunland G7 found 224 new customers last month, while the JAC T-Series collectively moved 154 units.
In total, the top 10 models sold 10,008 bakkies, accounting for roughly 21.16% of the 47,294 new cars sold in South Africa over the last 30 days.
