Most expensive Range Rover in South Africa – Pricing revealed

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that a new limited-edition Range Rover is on its way to South Africa.

The new model, known as the Range Rover SV Polar Night, is the latest in a string of special-edition models the luxury car brand has unveiled in recent months.

Only five examples of the SV Polar Night have been set aside for our market, and prices will start at R6,521,929, making it the most expensive Range Rover by a wide margin.

This title was previously held by the R5,718,700 SV Black, meaning the Polar Night comes at an R803,229 premium.

All Range Rover models are sold with a 5-year/100,000km warranty and maintenance plan.

What to expect

The SV Polar Night is inspired by the twilight skies of the far north, which is reflected in the exclusive Spectral Light Blue Gloss body colour.

The paint scheme is accentuated by a contrasting gloss black roof and mirror caps.

Furthermore, the carmaker has added a number of Graphite Atlas and Anthracite finishes to the exterior, and the Range Rover script has a Black Chrome touch to help it stand out from the main body.

The twilight theme extends to the 23-inch forged alloy wheels, which are Satin Dark Grey and Black with body-coloured inserts and black brake calipers.

Inside, the seats are decked out in perforated Liberty Blue and Ebony leather, creating a dynamic two-tone look.

Ebony black leather with Liberty Blue binding can be found on most of the cabin surfaces, adding a soft tactile texture to most points of contact.

Black anodised metal with chrome accents has been applied to other surfaces to continue the Twilight theme, and Land Rover has added a black ceramic finish to the controls for an even more upmarket look.

The steering wheel is wrapped in Liberty Blue leather that matches the lower instrument panel, and the seating is further enhanced by the addition of SV Bespoke embroidered scatter cushions and treadplates.

Moving on to the equipment list, the Range Rover SV benefits from the brand’s Body and Soul Seats (BASS), which incorporate haptic feedback through the floor mats and the seats for a more immersive audio experience.

Like all Range Rovers, the Polar Night has a digital driver display and a Pivi Pro infotainment screen with onboard navigation, as well as other features like keyless entry and start, a wireless charger, four-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats with a massage function and lumbar support, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, parking sensors, a surround-view camera, and blind-spot monitoring.

Powering the limited-edition SUV is the brand’s 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine, which generates a staggering 452kW and 750Nm.

This is sent down to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, letting it sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds despite weighing 3.4 tonnes.

It also has electronic air suspension for improved comfort, and rear-wheel steering, which greatly reduces the vehicle’s turning circle.
