Renault launches the new Kiger – the cheapest crossover in South Africa
Renault has officially launched the facelifted Kiger in South Africa.
The French carmaker has slashed the Kiger’s starting price by R30,000, giving it a new sticker of R219,999.
This makes it the cheapest crossover in the country, undercutting the Suzuki Ignis by R17,901.
It also means that Renault now offers the cheapest crossover, hatchback, and MPV in South Africa, as the company recently launched the updated Kwid and Triber for R178,799 and R218,999, respectively.

For now, the trio is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, which sends 52kW and 96Nm to the front wheels.
The base Evolution is exclusively sold with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the Techno is available with either the manual or a five-speed automated manual transmission.
In either case, the crossover manages an average fuel consumption of 5.3l/100km.

The update has given the Kiger a visual overhaul with a new front grille and bonnet, redesigned front and rear bumpers, LED headlights, C-shaped LED taillights, and fog lamps.
It also has a new skid plates and a set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the crossover has a new two-tone dashboard and ventilated leatherette seats, and the cabin has received better noise insulation.
