The Toyota Hilux saw a massive jump in sales in June 2026, brought about by the introduction of the long-awaited next-gen models.
In May, the Hilux sold 2,488 units, which soared to 3,464 in June, making it easily the most popular bakkie in the country.
This is according to a report by Cars.co.za, based on industry sales data from Naamsa.
The Ford Ranger came second with 2,150 units, and the Isuzu D-Max rounded out the top three with 1,724 sales.
The Mahindra Pik Up reclaimed fourth place thanks to 701 customers, knocking the GWM P-Series down to fifth place with its 565 sales.
Next up is the VW Amarok with 497 units, which was closely followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 with 462 purchases.
Eighth place went to the Nissan Navara with 294 units, and the Peugeot Landtrek and JAC T-Series came ninth and tenth with 267 and 250 units, respectively.
In total, the top 10 bakkies sold 10,374 units, accounting for 19.04% of the 54,482 vehicles sold in South Africa in June.
