New Jetour 7-seater SUV launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

The Jetour X70 Plus has been updated for South Africa.

The seven-seater X70 Plus was first introduced in September 2024, marking the Chinese carmaker’s debut in South Africa.

While it hasn’t been on the market for very long in the grand scheme of things, Jetour has nonetheless decided to update the X70 for the latest model year, adding new features and improving its performance.

The facelifted X70 Plus is available in two specifications, and prices start at R444,900.

Engine

While the X70 still uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, Jetour has raised the output by a noticeable amount.

It has received a 10kW bump in power and a 40Nm bump in torque, going from 115kW and 230Nm to 125kW and 270Nm.

The transmission has been changed, too, as the old model’s six-speed dual-clutch system has been swapped out for a seven-speed version.

Features

Visually, the X70 has been given a redesigned front grille with exterior elements in brushed aluminium, and a new set of 19-inch alloy rims. The company said this gives the SUV a more luxurious look and feel.

The trim levels have been updated, as the old Momentum and Deluxe have been replaced with the Prestige and Prime.

The Prime model has new features, such as an eight-speaker Sony audio system, privacy glass, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, and a Level 2 ADAS system with a 540-degree panoramic view camera system, intelligent high beams, and front parking sensors.

Bear in mind that this is in addition to the equipment included on the old models, such as automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, leather upholstery, a 40W wireless charger, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen.

The X70 Plus also comes with safety and assistance functions, including hill assist, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS, blind spot detection, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the new Jetour X70 Plus is as follows:

• Jetour X70 Plus 1.5T Prestige – R444,900
• Jetour X70 Plus 1.5T Prime – R494,900

Each purchase comes with a 5-year/150,000km warranty and a 5-year/60,000km service plan, plus an additional 10-year/1-million-kilometre engine warranty for the first owner.
