Major luxury car brand launching new dealership in South Africa

Volvo has announced that it is expanding its retail footprint in South Africa by opening a new dealership in Cape Town.

The luxury Swedish carmaker, which is a member of the Super Group Dealership family, announced that it plans to strengthen its presence in South Africa with a new retail hub at Century City.

“Volvo Cars Century City is more than a dealership; it’s a destination for innovation, safety, and sustainability. We look forward to welcoming more customers and strengthening Volvo’s presence in Cape Town,” said Christopher Diamond, General Manager.

Volvo Car South Africa said it was identifying further opportunities for growth in regions with a strong demand for premium vehicles.

It noted that the country’s luxury segment continues to attract new entrants and investment even as the broader vehicle sales industry is facing pressure from interest rates and cost-of-living constraints.

According to the company, this trend is indicative of consumers who are prioritising long-term value and service quality over price.

“Cape Town’s automotive landscape is undergoing a swift evolution, driven by increasing consumer demand for sustainable luxury and intelligent design,” said Grant Locke, Managing Director of Volvo Cars South Africa.

He said that the new outlet at Volvo Cars Century City stands at the forefront of this shift, serving as a dedicated haven for motorists seeking progressive Scandinavian engineering.

“Additional dealership sites are currently being assessed in identified growth markets, with further announcements expected as those plans are confirmed,” Locke explained.

Volvo said that partnerships with established dealers like the Super Group allow it to expand strategically while maintaining the service quality that customers expect from the brand.

Notably, it said that the Century City dealership is an important driver for its global electrification goals, featuring the brand’s range of mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles.
