New Ford Tourneo Titanium X goes on sale in South Africa – Pricing and features

Ford has officially expanded its premium people carrier selection with the launch of the new Tourneo Custom Titanium X in South Africa.

The Titanium X is the American carmaker’s new flagship eight-seater, slotting above the old Trend and Sport models, as well as the newly introduced entry-level Kombi.

“The Tourneo combines the space and versatility of a people mover with the comfort, technology and refinement expected of a premium passenger vehicle,” said Ryan Searle, Director of Sales Operations, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa.

“With the introduction of the Titanium X AWD, customers now have the added benefit of enhanced traction and confidence, making an already versatile vehicle even better suited to the wide range of conditions and destinations encountered by South African motorists.”

It is available in a single specification, and prices start at R1,354,100.

Engine

Under the hood of the Titanium is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder EcoBlue turbocharged diesel engine, which generates a total of 125kW and 390Nm.

This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to all four wheels. The all-wheel-drive system can distribute power to the front or back to maximise grip on wet roads and gravel surfaces.

Fuel consumption works out to an average of 7.4l/100km. It also has six drive modes: Normal, Eco, Slippery, Tow/Haul, Sport, and Trail.

Features

Ford’s latest people carrier has space for eight occupants and luggage, and is complete with leather upholstery.

The interior can be configured to suit owners’ needs, as the rear seats can be removed to create additional storage space. Alternatively, the seats can be rotated to create a rear-facing conference-style space.

The optional Lux pack will add heated second-row seats, a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, and a full-length panoramic moonroof to let in additional natural light.

The Mobile Office package, meanwhile, adds a stowable accessory tray table, enhanced lighting, laptop or tablet stowage between the seats, additional USB connections, an accessory docking slot, and an integrated rubbish bin.

This package also adds a feature that allows the steering wheel to be turned into a table for the driver when the vehicle is parked, as the wheel can be set at various angles to create a working surface.

Access is made easier by the addition of powered sliding doors, and the vehicle itself comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, and exclusive badges.

On the dashboard, you’ll find a 13-inch Ford Sync 4 infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

An advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite is also included with the following:

A driver attention monitoring system will play audio alerts when it detects that the driver’s head and eyes are distracted.

The South African pricing for the revised Ford Tourneo Custom series is as follows:

• Ford Tourneo Custom 2.0SiT Sport – R1,232,000
• Ford Tourneo Custom 2.0L SWB Titanium X AWD 8AT – R1,354,100 (New)

The recommended retail price includes an optional 6-year/90,000km service plan, a 4-year/120,000km warranty, and 4-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance.

Buyers can optionally extend their Ford service or maintenance plan to up to 8 years or 165,000km, while the warranty can be increased to 7 years or 200,000km.
