New iCAUR V25 SUV revealed – What to expect

Chinese automaker iCAUR has officially unveiled the new V25, the middle child of its electric SUV family.

iCAUR is a new Chery sub-brand that made its debut in South Africa earlier this year with two vehicles, the V23 and the 03T.

The V23 is the brand’s entry-level SUV, and this will soon be joined by the much larger V27, which is set to launch in South Africa before the end of the year.

As you can tell from their names, there is room for another model in the iCAUR V Series, and the brand has evidently decided to fill this gap with the new mid-range V25.

The new car was unveiled at the 2026 iCAUR International User Summit in Wuhu, China, where the company confirmed that it would go on sale in overseas markets.

No launch date was provided for a possible South Africa release, but considering we already have two iCAUR models, with a third on the way, it’s safe to assume we can expect the V25 on our roads in the near future.

In terms of styling, the V25 retains the boxy retro-themed SUV shape used by its siblings, complete with circular LED headlights.

“The V25 continues iCAUR’s Future Classic design approach, retaining the upright proportions, round headlights and squared-off profile established across the V-Series,” said the carmaker.

“Its height-to-width ratio of 0.96 contributes to an almost square stance, while a flat front end, clamshell bonnet, upright windscreen, side-opening tailgate and full-size spare wheel reinforce its traditional off-road-inspired appearance.”

Just like the V27, the new model will be sold with one of two powertrains: a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) option or a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) option.

The REEV version, which uses a petrol engine as a generator to power a battery and electric motor, achieves a fuel-to-electricity conversion rate of 3.71kWh per litre.

Owners will be able to select between Forced EV, EV Priority, Hybrid, Fuel First and Forced Charge driving modes to suit their driving and range needs.

iCAUR also said that the all-wheel-drive (AWD) derivatives feature two e-motors and produce up to 335kW and 505Nm.

It can tow up to 1.8 tonnes and supports 6kW vehicle-to-load charging, allowing owners to use the battery to power external appliances.

“The V25 is an important addition to the iCAUR lineup, because it broadens what the marque can offer without moving away from the design character that defines the range,” said Shannon Gahagan, Head of Brand and Marketing for iCAUR South Africa.

“Globally, consumers are looking for distinctively styled vehicles, but they also expect genuine versatility.”

“The combination of electric and range-extender powertrains, all-wheel drive capability and extensive customisation will give the V25 the kind of flexibility that is particularly relevant to iCAUR customers.”

As for its feature list, the Adventure SUV has 41 storage compartments and a boot that can take up to 1,549 litres of luggage.

It also comes with seven airbags and a driver-assistance suite that includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, driver attention monitoring, and a 540-degree camera.

The V25 will be supported by iCAUR’s customisation network, allowing buyers to add accessories and personalisation details at the dealership.

More information on the iCAUR V25, such as its full lineup, powertrain specifications, and price list, will be announced closer to its introduction in individual markets.
