Franschhoek Motor Museum

The Franschhoek Motor Museum is home to one of South Africa’s most comprehensive collections of rare and iconic cars and bikes.

It’s located at the L’Ormarins Estate and offers a glimpse into over 100 years of automotive history.

The collection there includes over 220 vehicles, with around half of those on display at any point in time.

Online bookings are compulsory due to Covid-19.

James Hall Museum of Transport

The James Hall Museum of Transport is where many petrolhead childhood memories were made in Johannesburg.

It housed the most comprehensive collection of land transport in South Africa back in 1964, and has been accumulating interesting exhibits since.

Based in Pioneer’s Park, La Rochelle just south of the Johannesburg CBD, it will bring back memories for dads of all ages.

There is secure parking at the museum, entry is free, and donations are appreciated.

The world’s favourite toy car remains a popular and inexpensive choice to put into a gift pack for dad.
