The cheapest second-hand Audi RS3 we could find – What’s on offer

The cheapest used Audi RS3 we found in South Africa goes for R339,890.

This specific model is a 2012 Audi RS3 Sportback S Tronic with 133,000km on the clock – and it is one of only 50 “2012” RS3 cars in the country.

Equally impressive, according to News24, is the fact that only 54 “2011” Audi RS3 cars were delivered in South Africa – making this one of the rarer Audis on local roads.

Below, we have a look at what this performance hatchback offers.

Under the radar

Despite being nine years old and costing the same as an entry-level family sedan, this RS3 looks in great condition.

The styling of this generation did not stray far from that of the standard Audi A3, with only a new grille, more aggressive bumpers, and a set of 19-inch alloys hinting at what was lying under the bonnet.

From inspection of the provided photos, one wear-and-tear-related flaw stands out on this car, however – a larger-than-usual panel gap between the front bumper and hood.

Apart from this, its light clusters are clean and clear of residue, the rims and sides are free of scratches and bumps, and the paint shines as if it rolled out the factory yesterday.

On the inside, this RS3 looks in better shape than a large majority of the nine-year-old vehicles out there.

The leather seats are clean, the multifunction steering wheel and gear lever show little signs of wear, and the dashboard and door panels look spotless.

Whether this is a result of caring maintenance or an excellent car wash, we do not know, but the photos make it tough to spot why this RS3 costs much less than its used siblings.

Its cabin comforts remain impressive, too, with dual-zone climate control, shifter paddles, xenon headlights, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and an infotainment display with Bluetooth support.

In addition, it scores a 4-star Australasian NCAP safety rating and carries a maximum of 350 litres of cargo in the boot – which gives it daily driving potential.

This Audi RS3 comes equipped with a 2.5-litre, in-line five-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor that will give hot hatches of today a run for their money.

The motor pairs with a seven-speed S Tronic automatic transmission, allowing the hatchback to sprint to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

It puts power down to the ground through all four wheels via the Audi Quattro system and runs to an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.

According to the listing, this vehicle also has a full service history included.
