How well the Toyota Hilux holds its value in the second-hand market

The most-enquired-on Toyota Hilux on AutoTrader in 2021 thus far is the 2018 Hilux 2.4GD-6 Xtra Cab SRX with 92,118km on the clock – listed at an average price of R368,782.

This is R17,918 (4.6%) less than the bakkie’s starting price of R386,700 in August 2018.

The most-enquired-on Hilux bakkies on AutoTrader, the company told TopAuto, for 2021 mostly include newer models – with examples from 2018 taking five out of the top 10 spots.

Only three models in the top 10 were older than 2018.

Surprisingly, we also found that second-hand Hilux buyers are very interested in the two-wheel-drive derivatives – with only three of the top 10 most-enquired-on bakkies being 4×4.

Double cabs, as expected, were the most popular body style, accounting for six spots out of the top 10. The Xtra cab body style took three spots, and the single cab one spot.

Detailed below are the most-enquired-on Hilux models on AutoTrader in 2021, ranked from 10 to 1.
