Electric Porsche Taycan GTS – Over 500km range for R3.1 million

Porsche has unveiled the Taycan GTS, which is the first model from this all-electric range to offer over 500km of driving distance on a charge.

The Taycan GTS boasts a range of up to 504km, which is based on the “WLTP” tests that use real driving data.

The GTS models from Porsche have always struck a good balance between the extreme performance of the GT and Turbo derivatives, and the comfort of the standard and S versions – with this new Taycan being no different.

“As the sporty all-rounder of the model range, it has an impressive 440kW of overboost power when using Launch Control,” said Porsche.

This results in a 0-100km/h sprint of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h.

The Taycan GTS also features adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard – which is “specifically adapted to the GTS to further enhance lateral dynamics” – while an optional rear-axle steering setup can make it more athletic.

GTS Design

The look of the Taycan GTS is distinctive on both the inside and out, with a darkened front apron, exterior mirrors, and window trims giving this model a dynamic look.

Inside, it features Black Race-Tex upholstery and a black-anodised brushed aluminium interior package as standard.

A first on this Taycan is the optional panoramic roof with Sunshine Control, which sees an electrically switchable liquid crystal film change the roof colour from clear to matte to protect occupants from glare without darkening the interior.

“The roof is divided into nine segments that can be switched individually – a world first in the automotive sector,” said Porsche.

In addition to the clear and matte settings, semi and bold can also be selected.

Price

The Porsche Taycan GTS has a South African starting price of R3,179,000.

This includes a 3-year/100,000kmĀ DrivePlan Maintenance Agreement.

First deliveries of the new Porsche Taycan GTS are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2022.
