The fourth-generation Kia Sorento has landed in local showrooms at a starting price of R809,995 for the EX+ 2WD specification.
At the other end of the line-up sits the SXL AWD model at a price of R988,995.
The flagship Kia SUV is driven by a 2.2-litre, turbo-diesel engine that connects to an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission across the range.
The engine generates 148kW and 440Nm – sending the 2WD and AWD SUV to 100km/h in 9.0 and 9.2 seconds, respectively, as well as to a top speed of 205km/h. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 2,500kg and combined fuel consumption at 6.8l/100km for both.
On the feature front, every Sorento offers seven leather seats, electrically-adjustable front seats, an 8 or 10.25-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights and wipers, an electric tailgate, and a rear-view camera.
Pricier models also include a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a heads-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and Kia’s advanced driver assistance programmes.
When it comes to practicality, the Sorento handles a maximum cargo capacity of 821 litres with five seats up, and its ground clearance measures 176mm.
