The next generation of Hyundai’s Tucson has launched in South Africa, offering a total of four models.

Slotting in between the entry-level Premium and the top-of-the-range Elite, the Tucson Executive sits comfortably as Hyundai’s mid-range offering in this SUV line-up.

Below, we look at what you can expect when spending R569,900 on this mid-range Hyundai Tucson.

Styling

Available in seven metallic paint colours, the Executive sports dark chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, and a silver skid plate.

Also included are wing-shaped LED headlights, daytime running lights, and side mirrors equipped with indicators. These side-mirrors can automatically fold and are heated to prevent misting.

Additional exterior features comprise 18-inch alloys, a ground clearance of 181mm, roof rails, and front and rear fog lamps.

The SUV has dimensions of 4,630mm by 1,865mm by 1,665mm, which provides it with a total of 1,860 litres of storage space.

Features

Moving inside, the SUV gets artificial leather upholstery and five seats.

The driver’s seat is electronically adjustable with lumbar support, and both front seats are heated.

Automatic climate control is included with separate controls for the driver and passenger sides, while in the centre console sits an 8-inch infotainment display that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Sound is projected through the vehicle’s four speakers and two smaller tweeters.

Other standard features include cruise control, a rear-view camera with driving guidelines, park assist, power sockets in both the front and rear of the car, and a wireless phone-charging dock.

Safety features consist of six airbags, blind-spot detection, ABS with hill-descent brake control, rain-sensing wipers, and an automatically-defogging windscreen.

Performance

The Tucson Executive packs a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.

This provides the SUV with 115kW and 192Nm, a top speed of 181km/h, and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 11.4 seconds.

Fuel consumption is then stated at 8.9l/100km, while towing capacity on the front-wheel-drive Tucson is stated at 1,650kg.

Warranty

The Hyundai Tucson range comes with a 5-year/150,000km mechanical warranty, a 7-year/150,000km roadside assistance plan, and a 6-year/90,000km service plan.
