Crossovers you can buy for the same price as the new Toyota Corolla Cross GR-Sport

Toyota’s latest model, the new Corolla Cross GR-Sport, is now on sale in South Africa with a starting price of R453,200.

Though it uses the same 1.8-litre petrol engine found in other Cross models, the Sport has received changes to its suspension and steering to give it more athletic handling.

Its drivetrain, linked to a CVT transmission, delivers 103kW and 172Nm, letting it achieve a top speed of 185km/h. Fuel consumption, meanwhile, is pegged at 6.8l/100km.

To go along with the sporty name and handling, the crossover has also had numerous styling changes including a new grille design, two-tone colour scheme, 18-inch black alloy wheels, and a GR-branded interior including black leather seats with red stitching and a matching push-start button.

Other notable features consist of automatic dual-zone air conditioning, an infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a reverse camera, and a six-speaker sound system.
