South African Festival of Motoring happening this August – Activities and ticket prices

The Festival of Motoring (FoM) is once again making an appearance in South Africa this August, following its triumphant return last year after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The largest industry-supported motor show in Africa is taking place this August from Friday the 25th to Sunday the 27th at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng.

The 2023 FoM will give motorists the opportunity to see some of their favourite cars – both in display and in action on one of several tracks.

So far, the automotive brands that are confirmed to be in attendance include Abarth, Alfa Romeo, BAIC, Bentley, BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Haval, Isuzu, Jeep, Lamborghini, Mini, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, and Suzuki- many of whom are giving visitors the opportunity to get behind the wheel of their latest models.

The off-road-oriented brands are located at a separate 4×4 track designed to show off the bundu-bashing capabilities of their bakkies and SUVs, while other automakers can be found at the self-handling arena letting individuals get a feel for how their cars handle firsthand.

The main circuit will play intermittent host to a number of competitions and test drives in performance vehicles of all shapes and sizes for visitors to witness and experience what it’s like to tear around a real racetrack.

Similar to last year, a handful of Formula 1 cars are also expected to be in attendance allowing locals to get a taste of what it may look like if and when the international race series does come to South Africa.

There are activities designed for the whole family, too, such as go-karting, a gaming zone, DJ sessions, and a dedicated kid’s play area.

Ticket prices

The ticket prices for the 2023 Festival of Motoring are as follows:

• Adults – R265
• Children aged 4 to 7 – R70
• Children aged 0 to 3 – Free

The ticket prices include a complimentary shuttle to and from the Mall of Africa to Kyalami for easier parking.

Premium Suite Michelin VIP Hospitality Experience packages are scheduled to go on sale from June 2023.
