New Mahindra Pik Up Karoo single cab – What you get for R403,000
Mahindra has introduced another model to its South African-exclusive Pik Up Karoo series which, for the first time, takes the form of a single cab.
The Pik Up Karoo Single Cab is currently available in both two-wheel and all-wheel-drive specifications with prices starting at R402,999 and R440,499 respectively, making it one of the most competitively priced light commercial vehicles in the country.
Of course, there is plenty of competition for bakkies in South Africa, so it takes a lot to stand out in this market segment.
This is what you can expect when purchasing the new Mahindra Pik Up Karoo Single Cab in South Africa.
What you get
Under the hood of Mahindra’s new vehicle is a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which puts out a total of 103kW and 320Nm.
A six-speed manual gearbox is used to send this power down to either the rear wheels or all four, depending on your choice of model, with fuel consumption for the former working out to 7.7l/100km, while the latter gets 7.9l/100km.
Regardless of which version you select, the bakkie is capable of hauling up to 1,095kg in the rear bed and towing a maximum of 2,500kg.
It measures 5,175mm in length, 1,820mm in width, and 1,860mm in height and has a ground clearance of 210mm. Both versions of the Pik Up also get a rear differential lock and a fuel-saving Start/Stop system, though the 4×4 is the only one with a low-range transfer box.
Equipment-wise, the top-end single cab is fitted with standard items like electric side mirrors, mud flaps, manual air conditioning, electric windows, keyless entry, a 12V socket, fabric seats, cruise control, an infotainment screen, and automatic headlights with a follow-me-home function.
Since they carry the special Karoo logo, these two new entries also wear unique Karoo decals on the doors, a black nudge bar and roll bar, exclusive 16-inch alloy wheels, a rubberised load bin, and a unique Sand Dune paint scheme.
